Plataforma de Análisis de ServIcios de TelecOmunicaciones (PASITO)
Plataforma de Análisis de ServIcios de TelecOmunicaciones (PASITO) is a Spanish project to deploy a Telecommunication Service Analysis Platform (Plataforma de Análisis de ServIcios de TelecOmunicaciones) whose aim is to develop a distributed network testbed that offers the possibility of creating, debugging and evaluating several telecommunication service test scenarios.
The utility of such telecommunication service laboratory is:
- The optimization of communication resources.
- The design and adaptation of new services to the specific needs at each time.
- The certification of equipment and services.
PASITO is a public infrastructure built upon the Spanish NREN (National Research and Education Network) RedIRIS, using a variety of technologies to test several telecommunication services, and at the same time, to guarantee its isolation from the rest of the services provided by the NREN, to avoid interferences with other activities of the Spanish scientific community.
The platform must be able to research in the following topics:
- Internet architectures.
- Communication protocols.
- Transport technologies with QoS.
- Virtualization and self-configuration of networks and services.
- Technologies and tools to monitor networks and services.
- Optical services for data-intensive projects.
- Technologies to distribute high amount of data.
- Peer-to-peer systems.
- Mobility services.
- Technologies to improve network security.
- Next generation collaboration services.
In summary, PASITO offers network researchers and administrators the possibility of using enough resources to share knowledge and experiences with other experts in new telecommunication, middleware or application technologies.
